An expert in works of art and collections has two separate tasks: Appraisal and evaluation
In the code of conduct drawn up by the European Confederation of Art Experts, the task of the Expert is described as follows: "the Art Expert is a specialist able to: - determine the nature, origin and period of manufacture of objets d'art or collections submitted to his judgement. - detect changes, transformations and repairs that this object may have undergone. Indicate a range of average values for the object, both trading values and replacement values
Because of its stringent admission procedures, the complementary skills of its specialists, its wide range of geographical locations in every region and in every market sector, the C.N.E.S. is able to guarantee its customers reliable services over the long term.
The expert has an essential role to play in evaluating a family heirloom or a collection, or in organising a private or public sale. His independence means that the advice he provides to the customer is extremely precious, for all issues related to inheritance, insurance and the constitution or distribution of collections.
