The CNES is the only experts' chamber:
 - to be established across the whole country and organised into regions
 - to organise examinations
 - to organise training courses in most disciplines
 - to offer dissertations on a given subject

Among its essential values:
 - Independence
 - Competence
 - Integrity

Continued professional development is foremost on the agenda of the C.N.E.S.

Since its foundation in 1967, the association has provided training activities for its members in order to improve and update their competence. This has meant organising seminars and training courses in all fields of art, museum or exhibition tours guided by a curator or "in-house" specialist, and visits of craftsmen's workplaces.

The C.N.E.S. prides itself on its growing reputation within the art trade world. It is now a recognized professional organisation with high standards of admission and a continuing educational programme.

Since 2003 the training programme of the C.N.E.S. is in hands of the C.N.E.S. Institute. An educational committee, including magistrates, museum curators, lawyers, journalists, lecturers and art trade professionals, is in charge of setting up the annual programme of activities offered to the members.
These activities are not only related to the fields of art and antiques, but also deal with professional aspects such as liability, legal and fiscal status, insurance, methodology, social security, etc.

Founding member of the Confédération Européenne des Experts d'Art, CEDEA
